​Objectives

The 2025 MAESTRIO International Elite Flute Competition seeks to promote global cultural exchange among flute enthusiasts, offering a platform to showcase musical talent while advancing the appreciation of classical music culture.

Through this prestigious event, we aim to bring together talented flutists from around the world, fostering an environment of artistic exchange and growth. This competition serves not only as a platform for musical excellence but also as an opportunity for musicians from diverse backgrounds to learn from and inspire each other.

Our goal is to position Taiwan as a central hub in the global flute community, enhancing its cultural influence within the classical music world. Participants will have the opportunity to not only compete but also share the enchanting sounds of flute music with audiences around the world.

1.Competition Procedures & Dates ​


1.1 Categories (Eligibility based on Birth Year) ​

1.2 Procedures ​
  • Preliminary Round:
    • Each contestant is required to submit a performance video.
    • Contestants selected by the jury will proceed to the Semi Final.
    ​
  • Semi-Final:
    • Contestants will perform live, and those selected by the jury will proceed to the Final.
    • Date: August 26 – 27, 2025
    • Venue : Department of Music,Taipei National University of the Arts

  • Final:
    • Will be conducted in a concert setting, and the winners will be selected by the jury.
    • Date: August 29, 2025
    ​​• Venue: Eslite Performance Hall B1, No. 88, Yan Chang Rd, Xinyi District, Taipei, Taiwan (Near MRT Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station)

1.3 Important Dates ​
  • Online Registration & Video Submission Deadline: June 2, 2025
  • Semi-Finalists Announcement: June 16, 2025
Semi-Final Registration:
  •  Online Registration & Payment Deadline: June 16 – June 30, 2025
  •  Semi-Final: August 26 – August 27, 2025
  • Finalists will be announced on the same day following the semifinal.
Final Registration:
  • No additional registration fee is required for finalists.

  • Preliminary Round: One complete piece (selected from Repertoire List A) with no repeats.
  • Semi-Final: Two pieces from memory, with no repeats.
    1. One piece from Repertoire List A (selection from the Preliminary Round can be reused).
    2. One piece from Repertoire List B.
  • Final: One complete piece from memory (selected from Repertoire List B, selection from the Semi-Final can be reused).

2. Registration & Fees ​


1. Registration Fees and Payment Methods:
  • Preliminary Round Registration Fee: NTD 1,500 (approx.USD 50)
  • Semi-final Registration Fee: NTD 3,000 (approx. USD 100)

​2. Preliminary Round Details:
  • The registration period opens until June 2, 2025.
  • All contestants must register online through the official competition website and submit the following required documents:
    ◦ Copy of a valid identification document with the birthdate displayed (ID card, National Health Insurance card, or passport).
    ◦ A recent color photo in JPG format.
  • Registration is complete only after the contestant submit the online registration form and payment, and receive an official confirmation email.
  • Preliminary video must be submitted before the deadline. Late submission will not be accepted.

3. Semi-final Details:
  • Semifinalists will be announced on June 16, 2025 on the official website.
  • Registration is complete only after the semifinalists submit the online registration form and payment, and receive an official confirmation email.

4. Important Reminders:
  • All contestants must ensure they receive the registration confirmation email from the organizer, as it serves as proof of eligibility to participate in the competition.
  • Contestants must present a valid photo ID at the on-site check-in counter (ID card, driver’s license, National Health Insurance card, passport, or residence certificate).

3. Rules ​


  1. Should a participant fail to appear after being called three times, they will be disqualified from the competition.
  2. The use of electronic amplification equipment is strictly prohibited during the competition. Any violation of this rule will result in disqualification, and no score will be awarded.
  3. Participants are responsible for arranging their own piano accompanist. The organizer may assist in finding an accompanist, but participants are required to make reservations in advance and cover the associated fees. Participants may not request a specific accompanist. For booking details and fees, please contact the organizer.
  4. The selected and optional pieces for all rounds (preliminary, semifinal, and final) may be from any edition.
  5. Memorization is mandatory for the semifinal and final. Participants who use sheet music, perform incomplete repertoire, or play incorrect selections will receive no score.
  6. The performance order for the semifinal will be determined bya random computer draw. The official performance schedule will be published two weeks prior to the competition on the official website and social media platforms.
  7. Time limits for Semifinal: The timing will commence from the first note played (including warm-up and tuning) and will conclude when the performance ends. No warning will be issued before the allotted time expires. Once the time limit is reached, a long bell (approximately 3 seconds) will sound, indicating that the participant must immediately stop playing. Participants who exceed the time limit will incur a deduction of 0.5 points from their total score for each additional minute (or fraction thereof).
    Category A: 8 minutes Category B: 7 minutes Category C: 6 minutes Category D: 5 minutes
  8. The final will be conducted in a concert setting, finalists are required to perform the entire piece from memory.
  9. Finalists will be announced on the day of the semifinal at the competition venue, as well as on the official website and social media platforms.
  10. During the competition, the organizer reserves the right to record and document performances (audio and video) and retains all associated copyrights. Participants are strictly prohibited from making any types of recording.
  11. The highest and lowest scores from the jury will be excluded in the calculation of the final score.

4. Awards & Prizes ​


Monetary Awards:
  • Category A. Elite - 1st Place: NTD 30,000 2nd Place: NTD 20,000 3rd Place: NTD 10,000
  • Category B. Young Artist - 1st Place: NTD 15,000 2nd Place: NTD 10,000 3rd Place: NTD 8,000
  • Category C. Junior - 1st Place: NTD 10,000 2nd Place: NTD 8,000 3rd Place: NTD 5,000
  • Category D. Children - 1st Place: NTD 8,000 2nd Place: NTD 6,000 3rd Place: NTD 3,000

​Certificates of Participation:
  • All semi-finalists and finalists will receive a certificate of achievement.

5. Special Regulations ​


  1. Participants must submit their preliminary round video link online by 11:59 PM on June 2, 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  2. Participants must upload their preliminary video to YouTube and set the privacy settings to allow access by the organizers. If the video is inaccessible, the participant will be disqualified without further notice.
  3. By participating in the competition, participants agree to comply with all competition rules. All rights to video and audio recordings from the event are owned by the organizers.
  4. To protect intellectual property and privacy rights, audio and video recording is strictly prohibited during the semifinal and final.
  5. Participants must follow the check-in order as listed in the "Performance Order" published on the official website. On the competition day, participants must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to their scheduled performance time for check-in.
  6. Participants are expected to maintain proper conduct and respect the rights of fellow competitors.
  7. The list of finalists from each category will be announced on the official website on the day of the semifinal.
  8. Following the performances of all finalists, an awards ceremony will be held, during which the jury panel (comprising both domestic and international members) will present monetary awards and certificates to the winners. The ceremony schedule will be announced in accordance with the final competition timeline.
  9. Force Majeure (Natural Disasters & Emergencies): In the event of a typhoon, heavy rain, earthquake, or other natural disaster resulting in an official government declaration to suspend work and school operations, the event will be postponed. The updated competition schedule will be announced on the official website. In the case of severe disasters, the organizers reserve the right to cancel the event without offering refunds.

  12. If tax withholding applies to the prize money, the winner is responsible for paying any applicable taxes.
