Dear Participants,
Thank you for joining the 2025 MAESTRIO International Elite Flute Competition!
Please read the following important information about the semifinal round carefully.
Make sure to report on time and comply with all competition regulations.

I. General Information

• Competition Dates: August 26 (Tuesday) – August 27 (Wednesday), 2025
• Venue: Department of Music, School of Music II, Taipei National University of the Arts
  Address: No. 1, Xueyuan Rd., Beitou District, Taipei City 112, Taiwan

II. Competition Schedule & Check-In Instructions

• The semifinal schedule is as follows (in chronological order):
  Group C｜August 26 (Tue), 09:30–14:40
  Group B｜August 26 (Tue), 14:50–20:10
  Group D｜August 27 (Wed), 09:30–12:40
  Group A｜August 27 (Wed), 13:30–20:10
• Participants are required to check in according to their assigned time slots (Please check details from Appendix I). Early check-in is not allowed (participants may arrive early to wait in the loungearea).
• Check-In Location: 4th Floor, School of Music Building II
• Competition Hall: 6th Floor Rehearsal Hall, School of Music Building II
• Warm-Up Rooms & Participant Resting Lounge: 4th Floor, School of Music Building II
• If a participant is absent or late, the organizer may adjust the performance order accordingly.
  Please arrive early and follow staff instructions to ensure your competition rights.

III. Waiting & Preparation Procedure

• The first participant in each group will begin performing at the official start time.
• The 2nd and 3rd performers must wait in the designated waiting area on the 6th floor during the preceding performance.
• All subsequent participants will be escorted in order from the 4th floor gathering area by the staff.
  Two participants will be notified to prepare ahead of each performance.

IV. Practice Room & Stage Usage Regulations

• Practice rooms will be available for registration after check-in begins for your time slot.
  Each participant is allowed one practice session of 20 minutes. Exceeding the time limit is not allowed.
• Participants are not allowed to request specific practice rooms or time slots. All practice room allocations will be arranged solely by the staff, with priority given to those scheduled to perform earlier.
• Once a practice room is available, staff will call the participant in the lounge area and wait for two minutes. If the participant misses the call, it will be considered forfeited, and re-registration will be required.
• Please manage your time wisely. If the competition schedule affects your practice session (or vice versa), the organizer bears no responsibility.
• Stage rehearsal and soundcheck are not provided. Only basic positioning adjustments are allowed upon entry.

V. Competition Rules and Scoring Guidelines

• In accordance with copyright regulations, participants are required to present original scores, either in official printed or legally licensed digital form.
• Timing Start Point: Timing begins from the first sound produced by either the piano or the flute (including tuning).
• Performance Time Limits:
  Group A – 8 minutes
  Group B – 7 minutes
  Group C – 6 minutes
  Group D – 5 minutes
• Performance Order:
  Group A. B. C : Repertoire A, then Repertoire B
  Group D: Repertoire A, then your selection piece
• Bell Cues:
  - First short bell: End the first piece immediately and proceed directly to the second piece.
  - Second long bell: Indicates the end of the allotted time. The performer must stop playing and leave the stage promptly.
• Overtime Penalty:
  - Continuing to play after the second bell will result in deductions.
  - A deduction of 0.5 points from the average score will be applied for each full or partial minute over the time limit.
  - Repeated disregard for the bell may result in disqualification.
• All semifinalists are required to perform two pieces within the designated time limit. Each piece must be played either from the beginning or from specific excerpts as requested by the jury on the day of the performance. Please note that the semifinal round does not require full-length performances. If a bell rings during your performance, you must either proceed to the second piece or conclude your performance accordingly.
  
• Judging System:
  - The panel includes seven professional flute performers and educators from Taiwan and abroad.
  - Evaluation criteria include intonation, technique, interpretation, tone quality, and stage presence.
  - Scoring: The highest and lowest scores are removed, and the average of the remaining scores is taken. Penalties (if any) are then applied. Top-ranked participants will advance to the Final Round.
  - Results will be announced at the venue and on the official website after each day’s competition.

VI. Dress Code & Audience Guidelines

• Attire: Participants are advised to wear formal concert attire.
• Audience: The competition is open to the public. Please remain quiet and follow staff instructions.
  Photography, audio recording, and video recording are strictly prohibited. Violators will be asked to delete any files on-site.
• Recording Services: The organizer will provide full video recording of each performance.
  Participants may request access to their footage after the event (Paid service).

VII. Transportation & Parking Information

• MRT + Taxi:
  - Take the Tamsui-Xinyi Line to Guandu Station (R24), Exit 1. Then take a taxi to the “TNUA Music Hall” (navigate via Google Maps to “TNUA Department of Music – Banyan Tree”).
• Bus:
  - From Guandu Station, transfer to Bus R35 or R55 Main Line. Alight at “TNUA Music Hall Stop.”
  - Signage is available near the stop. The Music School II building is a 1-minute walk from the stop.
  - Note: The R55 Shuttle does not operate during summer or winter breaks. Please take R35 or the R55 Main Line instead.
• On-Campus Parking:
  - Weekdays: NT$30/hour
  - Free for the first 30 minutes; charged as 1 hour if parked for 30–59 minutes.
  - Charged in 0.5-hour increments if parked over 1 hour; full 2-hour rate applied if parked over 1.5 hours.
